5 Week Hand Building Course

Service Description

This 5 week course, led by our instructor Ji, is designed to introduce you to the main hand building techniques, bring your ideas to life, and practice glazing your clay pieces. This course will offer you an intro to pottery with an experienced instructor, unlimited clay, and a variety of decorating tools and glazes. With a smaller group size of up to 12 students, you will be able to get more one on one time with our instructor to answer questions specific to your pieces. Perfect for all skill levels—especially beginners aged 14+ —this class focuses on creating pieces using 3 main techniques - pinching, coiling, and slab building as well as learning about proper glaze brush on application techniques. Come ready to explore, create, and grow! Course Overview: Class 1: Learning about and practicing pinching technique under instructor's guidance. Class 2: Coiling Technique - creating pieces and finishing up projects from Week 1 Class 3: Slab Building - creating pieces from clay slabs using either templates or free style method Class 4: Starting to underglaze and/ or glaze pieces from Week 1 & 2 Class 5: Finish glazing of all the pieces created during the course Pieces will be ready for pick up in 3 weeks after the final class. Terms and Conditions: Classes are for ages 14+ All courses are non-refundable. We require at least two week advance notice to reschedule a course, regardless of the date of booking. There are no partial refunds for missed classes. Our instructor will not be able to repeat the demo in case of late arrival. Please make sure to arrive on time. Make-up Sessions: We will try to accommodate one makeup class per course, however we may not always be able to do so. Please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. Note that new work can't be started in the last two classes (unless you are registered for the following session)
